Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

Our physical office is located in the historic 500 Building, 500 W. Main Street, Suite 201, in Russellville, Arkansas.

Many clients have expressed how much they enjoy virtual sessions from the comfort of their own homes; however, licensing restrictions prevent us from seeing clients when they are outside of the state of Arkansas. Also, not all situations are conducive to virtual services. Your clinician can work with you to make that determination.

Lisa is able to see counseling or coaching clients virtually from anywhere in the world. Call her to set up your first appointment at (870)754-1110.

What kinds of issues/problems do you work with?

Our counselors have experience treating clients with PTSD/trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and personal crisis. If you wonder whether they can help you, call for a phone consultation. They will give you an honest answer of how they can help, or will do their best to refer you to someone who can. The most important goal is for you to get the support you need to overcome whatever it is that you're struggling with.

Lisa also has experience working with clients who are making life transitions (life after divorce, returning to work after staying home with children or being laid off), wanting to advance their careers, improving communication to enrich relationships, grief or loss, and many other situations.

Do you accept my insurance? Will insurance cover therapy sessions?

We currently accept BCBS and Ambetter. We do not accept Medicaid (including ARKids) or Medicare.

Lisa has a sliding scale based on income. She will be happy to discuss with you what your rate would be.

If we don’t accept your insurance plan, we would still love to help you! You would just pay for your sessions out of pocket as a self pay client.

If we don't accept your insurance, you might want to work with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can sign up using the link below

Note: Mentaya's goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and your therapist does not benefit in any way from your participation. Allen or Laura can give you their specific link once you become a client.

Does insurance pay for couples therapy?

It depends. Insurance companies only provide coverage for issues that they deem to be medically necessary. Some insurance plans do not classify marital counseling or couples counseling as medically necessary. A good analogy for this is how your auto insurance policy doesn't cover routine maintenance like brake jobs; however, if you don't take care of your brakes, you will most likely have an accident. To be sure, you can call and ask your insurance company what they cover or if there are any "exclusions" specific to your policy such as "marriage therapy" or "family therapy. " If either of these are exclusions, then your company does not cover it.

Give Lisa a call for any questions about this at (870) 754-1110. She'll be happy to walk you through this.

This is a small town. Will people know I'm coming to therapy?

Usually, not unless you tell them. Confidentiality is one of the highest ethical requirements of counseling. Because there are so many different businesses in our building, it’s likely your privacy will be maintained (there are many reasons you could be in the 500 Building besides counseling); however, you may bump into someone in the waiting room or hallway. We ask that you show them the same consideration that you’d like to receive regarding privacy.

When do you see clients?

Appointments are available Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

What’s the difference between therapy and coaching?

Counseling or therapy helps you explore mental health issues, often resulting from trauma. A trained therapist can offer you treatment/therapy that leads to healing.

A life coach helps you examine existing thought processes and decisions, then provides the support, motivation, accountability, and encouragement to move forward with specific goals and action plans.

What is a Good Faith Estimate for the No Surprises Act?

Beginning January 1, 2022, regulations that are part of the No Surprises Act take effect. This basically requires healthcare providers to give uninsured or self-pay patients a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) regarding how much they can expect to pay for services. You are generally considered an uninsured or self-pay individual if you do not have health insurance, or do not plan to use your insurance to pay for a medical item or service. YOU MUST NOTIFY OUR OFFICE IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE, BUT ARE CHOOSING NOT TO USE IT.

For medical procedures, this is a fairly straightforward process, eg: one x-ray will cost you this much money; however, it’s not so simple for mental health. Because people have varying degrees of trauma or can experience setbacks during the counseling process, as well as heal or progress at different rates, it’s difficult to predict accurately how long treatment may need to continue.

What we can tell you is that evidence-based research shows us that for the therapy process to be effective for clients, they need to be seen on a regular basis. This usually means a one-hour session, once per week. Your clinician may choose to see you every other week if he/she feels that ethically you can still make progress. Our sessions are $150/hour. You will be provided a verbal GFE prior to your first appointment, then a written GFE with a diagnosis and more specific estimate after you have been seen and assessed by your clinician.

Remember, all paperwork must be completed prior to being being seen for your first appointment.
